I don't think it is inherently funny. Rather the context and the way they pitch it is funny, sort of. Like they were using some scammy emotional backdoor tactics to get you to want to buy gold; like some stupid late nite infomercial crap. I'm still trying to figure out if it is sarcasm or not. I don't think it is.
